Two weeks ago, our neighbors, Tamara Jenkins and Jay Montgomery, founders of Harbor Lights Theater Company, suffered a devastating fire that caused severe damage to their home and the theater company’s offices.
Yet despite this traumatic experience, they went on to complete the run of their last (screamingly funny) show, "I Hate Hamlet." The two are now in rehearsal for their next show, "An O. Henry Christmas," which will be presented on Dec. 10, 11 and 12 at the Music Hall of the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden.
Tamara and Jay have developed what is probably the most consistently high-quality, professional theater experience available on Staten Island. They not only perform; they teach theater arts to young people. Their presence in our community is something we should celebrate and support. S.I. House Fire Leaves 10 Firefighters Hospitalized

Several firefighters were injured after battling a house fire on Staten Island.
The fire happened just before 11:30 p.m. Friday at a home on Westervelt Avenue in St. George.
Fire officials said no one was home at the time, and that two dogs inside managed to escape.
Neighbors said moments after they spotted the fire, it quickly spread to part of their home.

"I Hate Hamlet," the cult comedy put on the Harbor Lights Theater Company will finish its run this weekend at Veterans Memorial Hall Veterans Memorial Hall, on the grounds of Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Gardens, despite the devastating fire last night that destroyed the New Brighton theater company office and home of company founders, Jay Montgomery and Tamara Jenkins.
The Broadway veterans who run the 9-month-old theater company were not injured in the blaze...
